A Mountain Fitness Specialist begins by assessing your human system in the 6 Keys of Mountain Fitness, then uses specific tools from each to reduce any limiting factors. The main process used is called Muscle Activation Techniques. In the MAT process, the goal is to raise your muscular tolerance level, so you maintain function in the alpine.
A bit more about the process
The process includes determining your breathing abilities in a hypoxic environment, while carrying a pack on an inclined treadmill. Your respiration volume and rate are monitored along with your heart rate to determine what speed and incline are your limit. Following the assessment, your muscular system is assessed and addressed, then you return to the initial assessment to verify your improvement. Your muscular system is then reassessed to find which part of the muscular system cannot tolerate the simulated mountain environment.
